What body composition can tell you

01

Two people can weigh the same and differ

Total weight does not show the balance of fat and lean tissue. Body-composition estimates give your physician another way to understand your starting point and the changes that follow.
02

How the assessment works

SECA bioelectrical impedance technology measures the body’s response to a small electrical signal. The device uses those measurements to estimate body composition. It is not a DEXA scan.
03

Follow fat and lean-mass changes

During weight treatment, your physician reviews body-composition trends alongside your meals, activity and strength. That information can help guide changes in nutrition and exercise as your weight changes.
04

Make comparisons useful

Hydration, recent meals and activity can affect results. Follow the practice’s preparation instructions and aim for similar conditions when repeating a measurement.
