The Distinction of a Diplomate

As hospital systems consolidate practices across Southwest Florida, finding a truly independent physician is becoming rare. We are not owned by a hospital corporation or private equity firm. We answer only to our patients.

Dr. Raymond Kordonowy | Fort Myers DPC Doctor | Direct Primary Care | Board-Certified Internal Medicine | Certified Clinical Lipidology & Advanced Lipidology (Cholesterol) in Southwest Florida

Raymond Kordonowy, MD

Diplomate, American Board of Clinical Lipidology

Southwest Florida’s premier lipidologist, dedicated to revealing and treating the 50% of cardiovascular risk missed by standard cholesterol panels. He offers Naples residents a proactive, root-cause approach to heart health unavailable elsewhere in the region.

This rigorous credential goes far beyond standard training, requiring specialized study in cholesterol metabolism, genetics, and heart attack prevention.

Most providers receive minimal training in advanced lipidology. As a Diplomate, Dr. Kordonowy does not just “manage cholesterol”—he analyzes the root causes of arterial disease to prevent cardiac events before they occur.

"Plumbing" vs "Chemistry"

The Difference Between Cardiology & Lipidology

Interventional Cardiology

Focuses on the “Plumbing”—treating blockages after they have formed (stents, bypass).

Essential for acute care.

Clinical Lipidology

Focuses on the “Chemistry”—optimizing the blood environment to prevent plaque from forming in the first place.

Proactive and preventive.

We partner with your Naples cardiologist to reduce your risk profile, ensuring you never need their surgical interventions.

Beyond Standard Cholesterol Panels

Standard panels miss 50% of risk. We reveal the hidden threats.

LDL Particle Number (LDL-P)

Measuring particle number is often more predictive of disease than volume.

Apolipoprotein B (ApoB)

The gold standard for assessing total atherogenic particle burden.

Lipoprotein(a)

A genetic risk factor found in 20% of the population, resistant to diet and exercise.

Genetic Screening

Identifying Familial Hypercholesterolemia (FH) to protect future generations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from Naples residents about our concierge practice.

Why do Naples residents travel to Fort Myers for primary care?
Most Naples primary care operates under hospital-system constraints — 10-minute appointments, rotating providers, and limited advanced testing. Our independent practice offers unhurried 30-60 minute visits, advanced lipidology with a board-certified Diplomate, and direct physician access. Naples residents come to us because this level of care is unavailable in the Naples market.
What is advanced lipidology, and how is it different from seeing a cardiologist?
Cardiologists focus on the “plumbing” — treating blockages after they form through stents and bypass surgery. Lipidologists focus on the “chemistry” — optimizing the blood environment to prevent plaque from forming in the first place. Dr. Kordonowy is a Diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Lipidology, offering advanced lipid testing for cardiovascular risk assessment and heart attack prevention that most cardiologists do not perform.
What does a concierge membership include?
Every membership includes unlimited office visits, an annual comprehensive physical with labs, same-day and next-day appointments, on-site diagnostic testing, access to our in-house medication dispensary at wholesale prices, annual flu vaccination, and secure online messaging with your physician. Premier members also receive 24/7 direct cell phone access and unlimited Inpatient Advocate Service. View full membership details →
Do you accept Medicare or insurance?
We have opted out of Medicare and insurance to prioritize the physician-patient relationship without insurance constraints. However, your Medicare coverage remains fully valid for everything we order — including prescriptions, hospital stays, laboratory testing, specialist referrals, and imaging — at any Medicare-accepting facility. You continue to use Medicare Part D for prescription coverage exactly as before.
How far is your office from Naples?
Approximately 35 minutes via I-75 (Exit 131 to Daniels Parkway, west to Winkler Road) or 45 minutes via US-41 through Bonita Springs. Many Naples patients combine their quarterly visit with other Fort Myers errands.
Can you coordinate with my existing Naples cardiologist?
Absolutely. We regularly partner with Naples cardiologists. We handle the “chemistry” — lipid optimization, metabolic profiling, and advanced risk stratification — while they handle the “plumbing” — interventional procedures when needed. This partnership ensures comprehensive cardiovascular coverage.
What happens if I need hospital care?
For hospitalizations at Gulf Coast Medical Center, HealthPark, or Lee Memorial in Fort Myers, our Inpatient Advocate Service provides daily bedside physician rounds. For Naples-area hospitalizations, we coordinate remotely with your hospital care team to ensure continuity.
Do you have an on-site pharmacy or medication dispensary?
Yes. Our in-house dispensary stocks a wide range of generic medications at wholesale member pricing. You can pick up prescriptions at your appointment — no pharmacy detour needed. For Naples residents who prefer home delivery, we also mail medications directly to your door. This eliminates the need for a separate pharmacy stop after every visit.
Do you offer care for seasonal residents?
Yes. Many of our Naples members are seasonal residents who split time between Southwest Florida and northern states. We coordinate directly with your northern physicians to maintain one unified medical narrative, manage medication transitions when you arrive and depart, and provide telemedicine access year-round — even when you are up north. Our concierge model eliminates the “new patient runaround” that seasonal residents typically face every season.
Are you accepting new patients from Naples?
Yes, we are currently accepting new patients. Finding the right doctor is a highly personal decision, which is why we offer a complimentary 30-minute meet-and-greet — which can be scheduled to maximize the value of your drive. Start the new patient process →
