If you are searching for the best concierge doctor in Port Charlotte, you may be looking for something that has become increasingly difficult to find in traditional healthcare: a physician who has the time to listen, understands your medical history, and is accessible when you need guidance.
At Internal Medicine, Lipid & Wellness Practice, also known as IMLWP, we believe your relationship with your doctor should be personal, consistent, and built around your individual health needs.
Our concierge medical practice is located in Fort Myers, but we welcome patients from throughout Southwest Florida, including Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, Cape Coral, Sanibel, Naples, and surrounding communities.
For some Port Charlotte residents, traveling to Fort Myers is a worthwhile investment when it means receiving longer appointments, direct physician access, proactive healthcare, and a doctor who truly knows their medical history.
What Should You Look for in a Port Charlotte Concierge Doctor?
The best concierge doctor for you is not necessarily the physician with the closest office. It is the doctor whose experience, availability, communication style, and approach to medicine align with your needs.
When evaluating concierge doctors near Port Charlotte, we encourage you to ask whether the practice provides:
- Longer, unhurried appointments
- Direct communication with your physician
- Same-day appointments for acute concerns
- Comprehensive annual examinations
- Preventive and proactive healthcare
- Chronic disease management
- Advanced laboratory testing
- Coordination with specialists
- Support when navigating complex medical decisions
- Help understanding medications and treatment options
- A clearly explained membership structure
Concierge medicine should provide more than added convenience. It should help restore a meaningful, long-term relationship between you and your physician.
That relationship is at the heart of everything we do at IMLWP.
Does IMLWP Serve Patients From Port Charlotte?
Yes. Although our medical office is located at 6160 Winkler Road in Fort Myers, we serve patients from across Southwest Florida, including Port Charlotte and Charlotte County.
We want to be completely transparent about our location. We do not have a physical medical office in Port Charlotte. Patients who join our practice must travel to our Fort Myers office when an in-person examination, laboratory testing, or other office-based care is required.
However, many patients are willing to travel farther for a physician who gives them more time, better access, greater continuity, and a more personalized healthcare experience.
If you live in Port Charlotte and are considering our practice, we invite you to schedule a complimentary introductory meeting. This gives you an opportunity to meet with us, learn how our membership model works, and determine whether IMLWP is the right fit for your healthcare needs.
How Is Our Concierge Medical Practice Different?
The most noticeable difference is time.
Traditional medical practices often maintain very large patient panels. Doctors may be expected to see many patients each day, which can lead to brief appointments and limited opportunities to address more than one concern.
We have intentionally chosen a different model.
By operating as a membership-based concierge and direct primary care practice, we can limit the number of patients we accept. This allows our physicians to devote more time and attention to every patient.
Our standard appointments generally last between 30 and 60 minutes. Initial appointments may last approximately 90 minutes.
That additional time allows us to:
- Listen carefully to your concerns
- Review your complete medical history
- Discuss multiple symptoms during one appointment
- Evaluate your medications and supplements
- Explain laboratory and diagnostic results
- Consider how different health conditions may be connected
- Discuss available treatment options
- Build a personalized plan around your long-term health goals
We do not believe a meaningful medical conversation should be limited to a few hurried minutes.
You Deserve a Doctor Who Knows You
Your health is more than a collection of laboratory results, diagnoses, and prescription medications.
To care for you properly, we need to understand your medical history, lifestyle, concerns, priorities, and goals. We also need the time to recognize changes in your health and follow those changes over time.
When you establish an ongoing relationship with one of our physicians, you are not starting over at every appointment. We become familiar with your history and can evaluate new symptoms within the larger context of your health.
This continuity can be especially valuable if you:
- Manage several chronic medical conditions
- Take multiple medications
- See several specialists
- Have a complicated medical history
- Need a second opinion
- Have unexplained symptoms
- Want to reduce your future health risks
- Prefer a proactive approach to aging and wellness
Our goal is to understand the full picture rather than treating each appointment as an isolated event.
Meet Our Concierge Physicians
Our practice includes three experienced, board-certified physicians who are committed to personalized and relationship-centered care.
Raymond Kordonowy, MD
Dr. Raymond Kordonowy is board-certified in internal medicine and certified in clinical lipidology. His areas of focus include internal medicine, cholesterol and lipid disorders, cardiovascular risk assessment, disease prevention, and complex medical cases.
David Marconi, MD
Dr. David Marconi is board-certified in family medicine. He focuses on developing long-term relationships with patients and providing comprehensive care that considers the connections between the individual, the family, and overall health.
Michael Barry, DO
Dr. Michael Barry is board-certified in internal medicine. His approach emphasizes practical medical guidance, open communication, and giving patients the time they need to feel heard and confident about their care.
Each physician brings a distinct perspective to our practice, but we share the same fundamental belief: good medicine begins with time, trust, and a strong relationship between the patient and doctor.
What Medical Conditions Do We Manage?
As a concierge primary care practice, we evaluate and manage a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions.
These include:
- High blood pressure
- Diabetes
- Metabolic syndrome
- High cholesterol
- Lipid disorders
- Cardiovascular risk
- Thyroid conditions
- Asthma and COPD
- Arthritis and joint pain
- Digestive concerns
- Anemia
- Heart disease prevention
- Weight management
- Hormonal and endocrine concerns
- Geriatric medicine
- Complex medical conditions
We also provide preventive examinations, second opinions, medication reviews, specialist coordination, and follow-up care.
Our office offers several forms of on-site testing, including cardiac, pulmonary, metabolic, body composition, and antioxidant assessments.
The exact services and testing we recommend will depend on your health history, symptoms, risk factors, and individual goals.
How Do We Approach Preventive Healthcare?
We do not believe healthcare should begin only after you become sick.
Preventive medicine is an important part of our approach. We look beyond immediate symptoms to evaluate the factors that may affect your future health.
Depending on your individual needs, this may involve:
- Comprehensive physical examinations
- Detailed laboratory testing
- Cardiovascular risk assessment
- Advanced lipid testing
- Blood pressure management
- Diabetes and metabolic evaluation
- Body composition analysis
- Medication and supplement reviews
- Nutrition and lifestyle discussions
- Age-appropriate screenings
- Long-term health planning
This deeper approach is especially important when evaluating cardiovascular and metabolic health. Standard laboratory results do not always provide the complete picture of a person’s risk.
By combining advanced testing with a detailed understanding of your medical history, we can help you make informed decisions about your health.
Will You Have Direct Access to Your Doctor?
Greater access is one of the primary reasons patients choose concierge medicine.
Depending on your IMLWP membership, you may receive access to online messaging, after-hours medical advice, or direct 24/7 physician cell phone communication.
This can be reassuring when a new symptom develops, a medication causes concern, or you are uncertain about the appropriate next step.
Direct access does not replace emergency care. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, you should always call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
For non-emergency questions and concerns, having access to a physician who already knows your medical history can help you receive more personalized guidance.
Do We Accept Insurance or Medicare?
IMLWP operates through a direct membership relationship. We do not bill private health insurance or Medicare for the professional services provided by our physicians.
You may still maintain and use your health insurance or Medicare coverage for qualifying services performed outside our practice, including:
- Prescription medications
- Hospital services
- Imaging
- External laboratory testing
- Specialist appointments
- Other covered medical services
Our physicians can order these services when medically appropriate.
IMLWP has formally opted out of Medicare. Medicare patients are welcome to join our practice, but they must sign a private agreement acknowledging that services provided by our physicians will not be submitted to Medicare.
Your Medicare coverage can remain available for qualifying services you receive from outside providers who accept Medicare.

Can Seasonal Port Charlotte Residents Join IMLWP?
Yes. We welcome seasonal and part-time Southwest Florida residents.
Once you are established with our practice, telehealth may be available when you are traveling or residing outside the area, when clinically appropriate.
Telehealth does not replace every in-person appointment. Some symptoms and medical conditions require a physical examination, laboratory work, diagnostic testing, or an office-based evaluation.
We do not currently offer discounted memberships for part-time residents. Your membership provides year-round access and continuity of care, including during the months you are away from Southwest Florida.
Do We Provide Hospital Care in Port Charlotte?
Our in-person hospital rounding and advocacy services are currently available at:
- Gulf Coast Medical Center
- HealthPark Medical Center
- Lee Memorial Hospital
We do not currently provide in-person bedside rounds at hospitals in Port Charlotte or Charlotte County.
We believe it is important to make this distinction clear, particularly if hospital advocacy is one of the primary reasons you are considering concierge medicine.
If you receive hospital care outside our rounding area, we may still be able to assist with reviewing records, explaining recommendations, coordinating follow-up care, and helping you understand the next steps after discharge.
Please speak with our team about hospital coverage and the differences between our Core and Premier memberships before joining.
Is Traveling From Port Charlotte to Fort Myers Worth It?
The answer depends on what you value most in your healthcare.
Some patients prefer to choose the nearest available primary care office. Others are willing to travel farther when it allows them to establish a relationship with a physician who offers more time, accessibility, and continuity.
Our practice may be worth considering if you:
- Feel rushed during traditional medical appointments
- Have difficulty reaching your current physician
- Want more time to ask questions
- Manage several chronic medical conditions
- Take multiple medications
- Need help coordinating different specialists
- Want a more proactive approach to cardiovascular health
- Are concerned about cholesterol or metabolic health
- Need a second opinion about a complex diagnosis
- Want a doctor who understands your complete medical history
- Value direct communication and longer appointments
We recognize that traveling from Port Charlotte requires an additional commitment. Our goal is to make that commitment worthwhile by delivering a level of attention, access, and personalized care that can be difficult to find in a conventional medical setting.
Questions to Ask Before Joining a Concierge Practice

Consider asking:
- How many patients does each physician accept?
- How long are regular appointments?
- How much time is provided for the first appointment?
- Are same-day appointments available?
- Can I communicate directly with my physician?
- What happens when I need advice after office hours?
- What services are included in the membership?
- Are laboratory tests included?
- How are specialist referrals coordinated?
- What happens if I am hospitalized?
- Can I continue using my insurance or Medicare for outside care?
- Is telehealth available when I travel?
- What happens when my physician is away?
- How does membership renewal work?
A reputable concierge practice should be willing to answer these questions clearly so you can make an informed decision.
