From perusing this week’s AMA newsletter, the lead article mentions Dr. Sanjay Gupta’s upcoming change of heart regarding Medical Marijuana.
I had written on this topic awhile back. Readers might wish to reread this article. I am very interested in seeing the upcoming documentary with an open mind. Presently I would remain with my opinion that there are currently already sufficient alternatives to marijuana for any of its opined benefits.
The issue of society using marijuana should not be in the dialogue of medication therapeutics. I do think there is intriguing information regarding cannabinoids affecting the immune system that warrant further study. As I already stated in my article, I condone studying the plant for potential unrecognized therapeutic benefits but current touted uses are insincere in my opinion. The debate on marijuana still is a societal/consumption debate. I don’t believe the medicinal use tactic has merit- don’t drag your doctor into your request to smoke pot.
