When doctors spend half their time doing paperwork and dealing with insurance companies the doctor-patient relationship can suffer. Time is taken from the actual interaction and visit in order to comply and jump through any number of hoops. Cash-pay clinics, like ours, can set their own rates. We are not mandated to charge you more than we should in order to satisfy some book rule requirement.
Insurance Companies Play Games with Your Wallet
There are some very strange rules you may not even be aware of – If an office takes insurance and offers a cash patient price that happens to be lower than the out-of-pocket co-pay, they are legally not allowed to offer you that price once they know you are insured. How insane is that?
